How We Measure The Citizenship Educations

How We Measure

Measuring Effectiveness of Citizenship Education Programmes

At CMCA, we believe it is not enough just to do good work in the field of active citizenship education; measuring the impact of what we do is an important part of our culture and our commitment to continuous improvement. We conduct quality assessments in order to:

  • Measure progress towards our vision
  • Know if we are socially accountable
  • Enable better design of our interventions, training, curriculum, and methodology
  • Identify areas of capacity building towards enhanced efficacy of our Educators

1. Can they Change Questionnaire (Pre-intervention) and Have they Changed Questionnaire – (Post the intervention)

The Can they Change and Have they changed Questionnaires are administered to measure changes in knowledge, attitudes, values, and beliefs before and after our interventions. A comparative study of the results is conducted with the baseline as the result of Can They Change (CTC) study.

2. Focused Group Discussions (FGDs)

Focused group discussions are conducted among a selected set of students to get a qualitative understanding of change in knowledge, attitude, values and beliefs of students. FGDs help in getting more qualitative information that can strengthen and confirm the quantitative analysis and the findings of the same.

3. Analysis of Acts of Active Citizenship

We encourage our members to take action to bring about change. We call such actions as acts of active citizenship. These acts are meticulously recorded and analysed along with the Have they Changed scores. In addition, these Acts of Active Citizenship also record evidence of life skills put to use well by our young citizens.

4. Member Feedback

We believe in a feedback-friendly culture that allows feedback to enrich us. We encourage our members to tell us about their experience with our intervention and the Educator which is used to gauge the interest and efficacy of our approach.
