CMCA Trust

CMCA symbolises the triumph of a vision and the power of passion and selfless voluntary service. From a drawing-room dream, CMCA is today, a strong, vibrant and growing organisation across 5 cities. The impressive growth of CMCA across this decade has spurred our 2 parent organisations – Public Affairs Centre and Swabhimana to launch CMCA as an autonomous body. CMCA registered as a trust on June 15th 2009.

Chairperson : Dr. A.N. Yellappa Reddy
Dr. A.N. Yellappa Reddy is an officer of the Indian Forest Service who has dedicated his life to issues concerning greening and the environment at large. He has served the Forest Department, government of Karnataka for 35 years in various positions. His stint as the Special Secretary, Department of Ecology, Environment & Forests ensured implementation of several land mark programmes related environmental conservation in Karnataka. He has been closely associated with CMCA since the year 2000 and in addition to being a Chairman of the CMCA Trust, he is Chairman of ECO Committee, Water Resources Ministry, Government of Karnataka and Member, Lok Adalat, Karnataka High Court. His reputation precedes him and his sincerity and commitment to civic and environmental issues is apparent to all who have had the privilege to interact and work with him. CMCA benefits in no small measure from his expertise and experience.

Trustee : Mr. G. Govardhan
Mr. G. Govardhan is Chairman of Swabhimana, our erstwhile parent organisation. An Engineer by qualification, he retired as Additional General Manager, Bharat Electronics Limited. Dedicating his life to voluntary service, Mr Govardhan has been a prominent active citizen of Bangalore city and is associated as a member or board member with many NGOs and government agencies. These include Bangalore Environment Trust, Public Affairs Centre, and several committees of Government of Karnataka such as Air Pollution Committee,  Road Safety Committee,   Karnataka Parks and Gardens Trust, Ganesha Immersion Committee etc. He is a pillar of support for CMCA and his guidance has played a significant role in CMCA’s evolution from a programme into an autonomous organisation.

Trustee : Mr. Aroon Raman
Mr. Aroon Raman is the Promoter and Managing Director of Raman Fibre Science, a research and innovation company in the area of technical non-wovens. With an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School, USA and a post-graduate degree in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, he joined Raman Boards as Managing Director, later divesting the global insulation business of his company to ABB, the world’s largest power products company. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the CII, Karnataka State Council. He was a member of the Mysore Agenda Task Force and Chairman of CII, Mysore Zone. He serves on a number of charitable trusts and corporate boards. Despite being very busy with his professional commitments, Aroon Raman makes time for CMCA and contributes with his invaluable inputs and experience sharing a deep belief in our vision and mission.

Managing Trustee and CMCA National Coordinator - Ms. Vrunda Rao Bhaskar
Ms Vrunda Rao Bhaskar, is a part of the founding team of CMCA, and has dedicated her life to the CMCA vision and mission, since its conception as a programme and joint initiative of Public Affairs Centre and Swabhimana in the year 2000. With a degree in commerce and a stint with the Brigade Group in the initial years of her career, she joined Public Affairs Centre to spearhead the CMCA program. She is also trustee of Swabhimana and volunteers with the Spastics Society.

Her exemplary ability to lead, inspire and motivate volunteers has made CMCA, a shining example of voluntarism. Under her leadership, CMCA has forged unique partnerships with local governments and corporate entities, sustained long-term relationships with member schools and volunteers and has continuously grown. Vrunda’s leadership has also been instrumental in building a team of passionate and committed fulltime staff. With Vrunda at the helm, CMCA has, in a sense, ‘lived’ its ideals – active citizenship, engaging and working with government and building voluntarism.

Treasurer and CMCA Associate National Coordinator - Ms. Priya Krishnamurthy
Ms. Priya Krishnamurthy has been with CMCA since the year 2002. With a degree in literature and a diploma in management, she started her career in VeriFone, later on working for her family business until opting to stay home to be with her children. Starting as a volunteer with CMCA, her passion for the cause quickly saw her joining the core team of CMCA.

Priya is a perfect blend of voluntarism and professionalism and her strengths lie in innovating and conceptualising. She has been involved in curriculum development and training, publications, coordinating CMCA films, audio visuals, presentations etc. Under her leadership, CMCA India has enabled our volunteers to pursue excellence in classroom sessions. She is part of the strategising team in CMCA, passionately devoted to the endeavour of developing alternative models of the program and innovating on the existing interventions of CMCA.

Trustee and Coordinator CMCA Mumbai - Ms. Vinodini Lulla
Ms. Vinodini Lulla is the founding coordinator of CMCA Mumbai. Under her leadership, CMCA Mumbai has grown and stabilised, forging sustained and long-term relationships with its member schools. Vinodini Lulla has a Masters degree in management from the Mumbai University and comes from an advertising background with stints in Rediffusion, O&M and Clarion. Her association with Public Affairs Centre soon led to her joining the CMCA team. Inspiring her volunteers with her dedication and tenacity, Vinodini Lulla has motivated her volunteers to ‘own’ the programme and drive CMCA with passion in their schools, embracing their ideas and bringing out their best.

Under her leadership, CMCA Mumbai has forged new relationships and partnerships and is making its impact felt in this large city. Vinodini is part of the strategy development team of CMCA and brings her wide experience in the corporate sector to benefit the programme.

Advisor to CMCA: Dr. Manjunath Sadashiva

Dr. Manjunath Sadashiva has been associated with CMCA since its inception as a joint programme of Public Affiars Centre and Swabhimana. It was his conceptualization of the civic-club model, in association with Vrunda Bhaskar that  set the premise for the launch of CMCA in the year 2000.  He has mentored and guided CMCA's evolution into the organsation it is today.  He advises and guides the core team of CMCA in all major decisions and endeavors.  His current areas of involvement  in CMCA are: programme planning, managing organizational change,  research and documentation and innovation on  intervention models. 

Besides his involvement in CMCA, he is a visiting faculty at the Institute of Housing & Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam and an independent consultant on participatory governance.

He served Public Affairs Centre in various positions for 13 years and was its Joint Director and the Head of Citizen Action Support Group until  he opted  to take a break from full-time professional involvement since July 2009.

He was associated with civil society organizations such as BOSCO, CIVIC, Samwada etc. in the early years of his career.

Dr. Sadashiva holds a PG Diploma in Regional Development Planning & Management, and a Doctorate in Civil Society And Urban Governance, both from University of Dortmund, Germany. He has a Master's degree in Psychology, Bangalore University and a PG diploma in Urban Management from the Institute of Housing & Urban Development Studies, the Netherlands.
