Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness (CMCA) Mumbai made a beginning in 2004 in Mumbai, in partnership with SCESA – Sophia College Ex-Students’ Association. CMCA started off with just 3 civic clubs in 3 schools in 2004. Today it reaches out to more than 2000 children through over 40 civic clubs in 25 schools in Mumbai. Volunteers, who have been the force behind CMCA, have grown in numbers from 3 to 50. The Sophia College Ex-Students’ Association (SCESA) is, as the name suggests, a group of former students and staff members of Sophia College, who work actively with other NGOs on several projects. SCESA is actively involved in implementing Rain Water Harvesting and sustainable rural development projects in over 120 villages in Raigad district in Maharashtra which includes several other programs that foster women’s empowerment and income generation. SCESA supports and collaborates with NGO’s in fields of education, civic and environmental actions. Blog << |
