Ashish joined CMCA in May 2014 as National Co-ordinator for the Civic Club Programme and mentor for the Curriculum Development & Communication domains. On January 1, 2016, he took over as CEO of CMCA. Prior to CMCA, Ashish worked for over 20 years with Citibank in various functions spanning risk, operations, compliance and audit in Mumbai, Singapore, Tokyo and Bengaluru. He left the banking world to pursue his long standing passion of spreading active citizenship by focusing on children. Ashish brings with him hands-on grass-roots experience of working in the local community on issues of waste management and re-juvenating common spaces with community participation. A Chartered Accountant and MBA by education, Ashish considers both Mumbai and Bengaluru as his home
Ms. Vrunda Rao Bhaskar ( Trustee)
Is a part of the founding team of CMCA, and has dedicated her life to the CMCA vision and mission, since its conception as a programme and joint initiative of Public Affairs Centre and Swabhimana in the year 2000. Under her leadership, CMCA has forged unique partnerships with local governments and corporate entities, sustained long-term relationships with member schools and volunteers, and has also been instrumental in building a team of passionate and committed full-time staff. Her exemplary ability to lead, inspire and motivate volunteers has made CMCA a shining example of voluntarism.
Ms. Vinodini Lulla(Treasurer, Trustee)
Is the founding coordinator of CMCA Mumbai. Under her leadership, CMCA Mumbai has grown and stabilized, forging sustained and long-term relationships with its member schools. Her association with Public Affairs Centre led her to join CMCA Mumbai as founding coordinator. Inspiring her volunteers with her dedication and tenacity, Vinodini Lulla has motivated her volunteers to ‘own’ the programme and drive CMCA with passion in their schools, embracing their ideas and bringing out their best.
Ms. Priya Krishnamurthy (Managing Trustee)
Is one of the co-founder’s of CMCA. She has a background in literature and journalism but discovered her calling in citizenship and democracy.With a deep belief in the innate goodness and potential of an open heart and mind, Priya found that the best place to nurture it is in our young, and joined CMCA as a volunteer in the year 2002.Through the years she has dedicated her time and talent towards designing the curriculum that lies at the heart of CMCA’s interventions. She is fondly called the “architect” of the curriculum and content in CMCA.Today, as CMCA stands strong with a grassroots program in place, she is focussed on enabling the organization to emerge as a leader in advocacy efforts to mainstream education for democratic citizenship and to build a relevant and responsive Resource Center for schools and colleges.
Dr.Manjunath Sadashiva (Trustee)
He was with CMCA since its inception as a joint programmeme of Public Affairs Centre and Swabhimana. It was his conceptualization of the Civic Club model, in association with Ms. Vrunda Bhaskar that set the premise for the launch of CMCA in the year 2000. He has mentored and guided CMCA’s evolution into the organisation it is today. Before becoming Director of CMCA in 2011, Dr. Sadashiva was an advisor to CMCA and also held various positions with other organizations like South Africa based CIVICUS and Bangalore based civil society organizations like Public Affairs Centre, BOSCO, and Samwada etc. He was also visiting faculty at the Institute of Housing & Urban Development Studies, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Dr. Sadashiva holds a Doctorate in the politics stream and a PG Diploma in Regional Development Planning & Management from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, a PG diploma in Urban Management from IHS, Rotterdam and a Master’s degree in Psychology from Bangalore University.
Nagaveni Muniraj leads the administration and Finance department and has been with CMCA for over 12 years. She discovered her latent talents in accounts and administration during her stint as an accountant in CMCA’s earlier years. Nagaveni’s 12 year period at CMCA has seen her juggle various roles in the organisation.
Marulappa P. R comes with 13 years of experience working in the social development and education sector. He has a Master’s and an M Phil Degree in Sociology .He believes in the power of civil society to influence and bring about change and is currently leading the regional school programme at CMCA. He is a voracious reader and also likes to engage in debates and discussions
Flora comes with extensive corporate experience and has been working with CMCA for over 4 years now. She brings with her expertise in management, strategy and planning. She is creative, reflective and a deep thinker, and is currently spearheading the Communications department at CMCA.Flora is an ardent food lover and an art buff.
Jeevitha currently leads the youth department of CMCA.She has been with CMCA for over six years and believes that children and youth have the potential to bring about change in our country.Jeevitha’s key strengths lie in planning, organizing events and documentation. Over the years she has built a strong bond with CMCA’s volunteers and keenly collaborates with them. Besides her passion for the cause, Jeevitha is passionate about travelling.
Josephine, is a Consultant for Curriculum Development & Training and has been associated with CMCA since its inception. She is an Ecology and Environmental Sciences post-graduate. Her work interest lies in environment, civic and urban governance issues. She also enjoys writing for Citizen Matters as a citizen journalist and is passionate about up cycling old fabric and has her own line of up-cycled products. Josephine is also a founding Trustee of Iksha Foundation that supports children with eye cancer.
